Planes Suspended After Second Crash

Sweden’s Scandinavian Airlines System suspended all Dash 8-400 flights after a second accident involving the plane model.

The latest incident occurred Wednesday when a plane bound for Palanga, Lithuania, from Copenhagen, Denmark, made an emergency landing in Vilnius, Lithuania, when a cockpit warning light came on, The Local reported.

The landing gear gave out during the landing but none of the 48 passengers or four crew members were injured, the airline said.

The incident was similar to a Sunday incident involving the same model plane in Alborg, Denmark.

It was a similar accident to that in Alborg, in which the landing gear gave way. I do not have any information about the exact order of events, Bertil Tenert, information manager for SAS Group told The Local.

Tenert and other officials said the suspension of flights using the Dash 8-400 planes will leave many passengers in need of alternative transport.

We will fix alternative transport for passengers. Some will be put on alternative flights and some will have to use buses or trains, SAS spokesman Mikael Lindberg said to the newspaper.
