September 12, 2007
Isuzu Motors has initiated the marketing of a medium-to-heavy-duty bus for long distance and sightseeing routes in India.
The bus is an LT 134, medium-to-large-duty bus of 230 hp that can accommodate from 40 to 45 passengers. The chassis is imported from Isuzu in Japan, while the body is built by local manufacturer Swaraj Mazda, which also assembles the completed vehicle.
The buses are sold in India under the Isuzu brand. In addition to the medium-heavy duty LT, Isuzu plans to begin production and sales of the NQR, a light-duty bus that accommodates 20 to 25 passengers and is built on the Elf light-duty truck base, some time from the end of this year to next year.
