As part of its plans to expand and consolidate its operations on the Latin American market, Mexicana Airlines, Mexico's leading international airline, has expanded its code-share agreement with Colombian carrier Avianca.
Under this agreement, Mexicana passengers can now catch connecting flights from Bogota with Avianca to the Colombian cities of Cali, Medellin, Cartagena, Bucaramanga, Manizales and San Andres Isla. Likewise, Mexicana offers Avianca passengers connections to Acapulco, Cancun, Ciudad del Carmen, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Merida, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Tampico, Veracruz and Villahermosa from Mexico City.
More convenient connections, fewer check-in procedures and more efficient luggage handling are just a few of the benefits the agreement offers passengers of both airlines.
Avianca President Fabio Villegas Ramirez, said: "Having Mexicana Airlines as a strategic partner allows Avianca to offer services with the seal of international quality the company seeks to provide for its most loyal customers. Thanks to the expansion of the code-share agreement between the flagship airlines of both countries, passengers now have more options when it comes to connecting flights, plus the added convenience of being able to travel on one single ticket and check-in their luggage right through to their final destination."
According to Mexicana CEO Emilio Romano: "Mexicana has now positioned itself as the Mexican airline with the greatest international coverage , proof of this being its leading position on the US-Mexican market, its strong presence in Central and South America and the Caribbean, and its alliances with other major carriers, such as its new agreement with Avianca."
