Tokyo, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)–Isuzu Motors Ltd. and Hino Motors Ltd. notified the transport ministry Thursday of their plans to recall a total of 110,000 midsize trucks and large buses for free repairs due to a defect that could cause fire.

The vehicles in question were manufactured between February 1998 and April this year.

The vehicles are equipped with a same-type starter. When the starter is used frequently over a short period of time, flammable gas can collect around the motor and lead to fire, according to the automakers.

The two firms have so far received reports of four cases of fire that are believed to have been caused by the defect.END
