UAL Corporation has applauded the appointment of captain Hank Krakowski, United Airlines' vice president of flight operations, as COO of Federal Aviation Administration.
United has started searching for a new vice president of flight operations. In the interim, senior flight operations managers who reported to Mr Krakowski will report directly to Sean Donohue, senior vice president of flight operations and onboard service.
Pete McDonald, executive vice president and COO, said: "The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plays a critical role in the management and modernization of our air traffic control system, the most pressing issue for the US airline industry today. We are proud of our ongoing commitment to safety and to addressing ATC issues, and are pleased that the FAA has chosen a member of the United team for this important role."
