Renewable Living Fest in Berks

The third annual Renewable and Sustainable Living Festival will be held today and Sunday at the Kempton Community Center in Kempton, Berks County.

Workshops will be held on how to convert cars and tractors to run on vegetable oil, how to spin yarn on a spinning wheel, an activists’ guide to fighting nuclear power, harvest-time traditions of the Pennsylvania Germans, and how to weave a basket with a renewable resource.

Information also will be available on renewable energy, building construction with natural materials, sustainable agriculture, land- use planning, forestry and health living practices. There will be speakers, exhibitors, hands-on demonstrations, vendors, live music and entertainment, children’s activities and food.

Times for the festival are 9 a.m. to10 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $12 adults; $6 ages 13-21; and 12 and under free.
