The Czech Republic welcomed business delegates from Vietnam led by Vietnamese prime minister in Sep 2007. The meeting was to start new businesses between the both countries and seven main contracts worth CEK 69 bil in total have been signed during the meeting. Building of a black-coal power plant in Vietnam worth CEK 60 bil provided by the power company CEZ (Czech Republic) and its subsidiary Skoda Praha (Czech Republic) is the largest projects. The mutual trade exchange with Vietnam rose by 41% year-on-year in 2006. But it reaches only about USD 160/y. The fact that many Vietnamese important representatives studied at Czech universities and speak Czech could help the mutual trade contacts to rise.
