Pratt & Whitney Canada has achieved more than 300 million flight hours powering business and general aviation aircraft, a milestone that underscores the company's strong leadership in this market around the world. Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company.
Over 18,000 business and general aviation aircraft today are powered by members of P&WC's JT15D, PT6A, PW100, PW300, PW500 and PW600 engine families.
"Business and general aviation is clearly an important market for us, demonstrated by the significant investments we have made in new technologies to add value for our customers," said Claude Lachapelle, Vice President, Business Aviation. "In the last 12 years alone, P&WC has certified over 60 engines, many of which power business and general aviation applications."
Among the newest products P&WC has introduced to the market is the PW600 family, now at the forefront of the very light jet market segment, with applications on the Cessna Mustang, Eclipse 500, Embraer Phenom 100 and Epic Victory aircraft. The new PW307 engine, which recently entered service on the Dassault Falcon 7X long-range business jet, is currently one of the greenest engines in aviation.
P&WC is also developing a new 10,000-pound-thrust-class engine family for the next generation of large, long-range corporate jets. "This family will leverage the latest materials, aerodynamic and design technologies from across Pratt & Whitney to raise the bar on performance and economics," said Lachapelle. The new 10K-class family will also surpass current International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards by over 35 per cent for carbon monoxide and by more than 50 per cent for nitrous oxide emissions, unburned hydrocarbons and smoke emissions.
P&WC engines are backed by its global customer support network, including the recently launched Customer First Centre for 24-7 frontline assistance, over 30 P&WC-owned and designated service facilities, field representatives on all major continents, mobile repair teams available around the clock, the largest pool of P&WC rental and exchange engines in the industry, and advanced diagnostic capabilities.
