BP's Ethanol-Blended Fuel Now Available at 100 NSW Outlets

The Australian unit of UK oil titan BP has revealed that the rollout of its ethanol-blended fuel has reached a significant milestone, with the fuel now available at 100 BP-branded service stations across New South Wales, Queensland.

Nick Moen, BP Australia's fuels strategy manager, said: "Securing additional supplies of ethanol has been a critical first step in our rollout of biofuels. We now have contracts in place that allow us to not only introduce ethanol-blended fuel across the east coast, but to bring this fuel into the mainstream."

Mr Moen went on to outline BP Australia's ambitious plans to sell more ethanol-blended fuel in the latter half of 2007 than it has done in the last four years combined. He went on to reveal that BP's plans to roll out ethanol blended fuel will continue to gather pace over the remainder of 2007 and into 2008.

BP's new unleaded 91 offering is a specially formulated 91 octane unleaded petrol with up to 10% renewable ethanol, a clean renewable fuel that is made from sugar cane or grain.

Mr Moen revealed: "At least 150 BP service stations will be selling the company's renewable ethanol fuel blend, new BP unleaded 91, by early next year." He also revealed that Australian drivers have purchased over 150 million liters of ethanol-blended fuel from BP.
