Posted on: Thursday, 27 September 2007, 18:00 CDT
The season premiere of the hit TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, scheduled to air Sunday, will feature metal wall and floor framing materials from Dietrich Metal Framing, a Worthington Industries (NYSE:WOR) company.
The project in Kalihi, Hawaii, is the show's largest build to date and features two 6,000-square foot structures, one will be the Akana family's new residence and the other will be a community center.
"We think it is important for us to be involved in special projects like this one for the Akana family," said John P. McConnell, Chairman and CEO of Worthington Industries. "The Hawaii market, where more than 70 percent of houses are framed in steel, has long appreciated the benefits of using steel framing because it's impervious to termites, doesn't promote the growth of mold or mildew, and is non-combustible. We are proud of our involvement with the show and in providing a safer and stronger house and community center in Hawaii."
Dietrich's donation includes traditional metal wall framing, header material and TradeReady® Floor Systems which include TradeReady® Joists and TradeReady® Rim Joists.
Brookfield Homes Hawaii asked Dietrich to participate in the project. Dietrich customer Coastal Construction provided the crews to panelize and install the metal framing.
Dietrich Metal Framing offers the largest selection of cold-formed steel framing, including drywall and structural metal stud framing, contour flexible track framing, floor joists, roof trusses, metal lath and a variety of fire-rated assemblies.
Additionally, Dietrich has one of the largest selections of clips and connectors, numerous deflection systems including slotted slip track (SLP-TRK) and an extensive line of metal, vinyl and paper-faced corner beads and trims. Dietrich also offers a full line of expanded metal veneer, plaster and stucco beads and trims including expansion and control joints. For more information, visit www.dietrichmetalframing.com.
