Iraqi Border Under “Heavy Artillery Fire” After Sirnak Ambush – Turkish Press

In the wake of the treachorous ambush, in which 13 Turkish soldiers were killed in Sirnak’s Gabar Mountain, wide-scale operations were launched in Hakkari’s Cukurca District and the Iraqi border came under heavy artillery fire as of the early hours of the morning.
The military troops, positioned in Cukurca at the zero point on the Iraqi border, were put in alert after the treacherous ambush in Sirnak. The military units from the 3d Commando Battalion and the 21st Tactical Border Gendarmerie Regiment in the district fired artillery shells to the targets on the Iraqi border as of 0430 [ 0130 gmt]. The artillery fire, which was heard from the district centre, continued for half an hour.
