New Kent County Expands Natural Gas for New Development
Posted on: Monday, 8 October 2007, 12:00 CDT
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Virginia Natural Gas broke ground on a new gas line today in New Kent County. The project will meet the growing demand for natural gas service to new homes and businesses in the county.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Stran Trout enthusiastically showed his support for the project stating, "We are looking forward to Virginia Natural Gas expanding gas service in the county. The type of residential and commercial development we are getting is first class and natural gas goes hand-in-hand with first class development."
New Kent County is one of the fastest growing areas in Virginia and this new service will accommodate future growth and add the natural gas advantage to the county's list of assets.
"This expansion project presented an opportunity to partner with Virginia Natural Gas to provide quality residential development to a growing region," said Billy Cunningham, developer of the Rock Creek Villas subdivision. "This kind of top quality development is good for everyone, especially New Kent County and its residents."
Virginia Natural Gas first brought services to New Kent County in 2005 by building a supply line that serves the existing Patriot's Landing residential development. Today's groundbreaking marks the expansion of the original line and will serve additional commercial customers and three new residential developments. Future plans call for Virginia Natural Gas to transition customers who are using propane gas to natural gas service after the current expansion project is complete.
Virginia Natural Gas president Jodi Gidley praised the project, "Virginia Natural Gas is proud to partner with the county and top notch developers to provide an energy alternative that will help the county remain competitive in this dynamic growth environment."
