A PROBE was yesterday launched into the death of a man after the collapse of a rig at a gas terminal.

One man, believed to be a 44-year-old Dutchman, died in the accident near Milf-ord Haven on Saturday.

Seven men were rescued when the floating barge collapsed at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.

Rescue crews searched for the missing rig worker, without success, late into the evening on Saturday.

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that a remote-controlled vessel had located the body of the missing man. Efforts to recover his body continued last night.

South Hook LNG, which operates the terminal, said: “It is with deep regret that we can confirm an individual, employed by a sub contractor, lost his life following an incident on a jack-up barge working alongside the jetty on 6th October, at the South Hook LNG Terminal in Milford Haven, South West Wales.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family.

One person remains in hospital after being rescued.
