TRAVEL chaos was avoided yesterday after pilots accepted the deal hammered out by Aer Lingus bosses and unions.
Agreement was eventually reached at 2.30am the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association on the airline’s controversial new Belfast hub.
A union spokesman said: “Both parties have agreed the company can establish new bases on local terms and conditions of employment, while the company will recognise Impact to represent pilots in Belfast.”
The seven pilots suspended during the row will now be reinstated.
Up to 15,000 passengers a day could have been affected by the threatened grounding of the entire Aer Lingus fleet.
