OAKLAND – A bullet went through the front windshield of an AC Transit No. 72 bus Thursday night, but no one was injured, agency officials said.

The bus was on San Pablo Avenue near 34th Street, southbound toward Jack London Square about 8 p.m. when the bullet struck, AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson said.

“We don’t know if it was fired at the bus or struck the bus accidently,” Johnson said. The driver pulled the bus to the curb and called police, he said.

It was the first time in recent memory that an AC Transit bus has been struck by a bullet, Johnson said.
