DERRY, N.H., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Cedar Point Communications, a leader in integrated VoIP switching solutions for the service provider and enterprise industries, announced today that it has selected John Murphy, a leading telecommunications industry executive, as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales.

At Cedar Point, he will be responsible for growing the company's base of cable, telco, enterprise and WiMAX customers in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, and for shaping the company's entry into Asia and other new markets.

"The ability of our SAFARI C(Cubed) Multimedia Switching System to enable the simple, cost-effective and scalable delivery of VoIP services has helped Cedar Point gain immediate traction in a variety of markets," said Andy Paff, president and CEO of Cedar Point Communications. As president of Excel Switching Corporation from 2003-2005, Murphy played a key role in the acquisition of Brooktrout Technologies by EAS Group, Inc., parent company of Excel, and the creation of Cantata as a combined Brooktrout- Excel entity. He was named New England Telecommunications Executive of the Year by Mass High Tech in 2006 for his accomplishments as president of Cantata.

Prior to joining Excel Switching, Murphy held several sales positions with ADC Telecommunications. He also spent four years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard.
