GCT Semiconductor, a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor solutions for wireless communications, today announced it validated its current WiMAX chipsets product portfolio on Windows Vista. Windows Vista WHQL signed drivers are ready for all current GCT WiMAX chipsets. In addition, all future GCT WiMAX chipsets will ship ready for Windows Vista.
Validation from Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs is achieved through a series of rigorous tests designed to ensure the compatibility and reliability of devices interacting with the Windows operating system. The program is designed to assist consumers in identifying quality products that are easy to install and operate without interfering with other components in the system.
"The performance of a wireless chipset is affected by many things, including its architectural design and the way it interacts with the network and host system," commented Dr. Kyeongho Lee, President and CEO of GCT Semiconductor. "We are pleased to be working closely with Microsoft and to have met Microsoft's stringent set of performance and compatibility criteria defined to insure a positive end-user experience under Windows XP, Vista and 2000. Microsoft's WHQL signature ensures that WiMAX devices using GCT's drivers are fully compatible with Windows Operating System."
Dr. Lee added, "Compatibility and seamless operation with leading operating systems like Windows Vista are critical for accelerating WiMAX adoption and market growth. The availability of these drivers, in addition to our power and size efficient WiMAX product portfolio, provides key enabling technology to WiMAX terminal suppliers."
