The October issue of Delta Air Lines’ award-winning Sky magazine features a 29-page section on Omaha, showcasing pertinent information and articles on the city’s premier business climate, the healthcare industry, higher education, lifestyle and entertainment. Well-known Omaha natives and residents also were interviewed for the issue, including Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle, Susie Buffett chairman of The Sherwood Foundation and daughter of Warren Buffett, award-winning filmmaker Alexander Payne and Jim Clifton, chairman of the Gallup Organization.

“Omaha is a valuable part of Delta’s global network and we’re excited to be able to showcase the area to so many of our customers,” said Wade Wells, Delta’s Omaha station manager.

Delta currently operates 26 nonstop daily flights to eight destinations from OMA, including its hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Salt Lake City, as well as nonstop service to New York-LaGuardia and Washington-Reagan National Airport.

“We thank Delta for putting a spotlight on Omaha and consider this special feature an invitation for travelers to experience the city’s culturally charged art scene, energetic sports atmosphere and world-class attractions,” said Dana Markel, executive director of the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau. “An opportunity to reach five million Delta passengers gives our city a chance to show how Omaha has grown as a destination.”

“We are delighted that Delta Air Lines selected Omaha as its feature city in Sky magazine,” said David G. Brown, Greater Omaha Chamber president and CEO. “This certainly enhances our ongoing efforts to promote Greater Omaha’s pro-business climate to the world and allows us to showcase the results of more than $3.3 billion in capital investment since 2004.”

Delta Air Lines carries more customers annually than any other airline, and Delta’s Sky magazine is the world’s most-read onboard magazine, reaching an estimated five million readers monthly with an average household income of $125,000. Aside from the distribution of the supplement on all the Delta carriers, the economic development agencies and other business organizations will be given hundreds of run-off copies to use toward other marketing efforts.
