Register Today for the First Annual Metro Atlanta Kids Recycle Day
ATLANTA, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ – The first annual Metro Atlanta Kids Recycle Day, hosted by Live Thrive and The Little Green Path Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Atlanta Civic Center. The event and recycling services are all free, with the only exception being television recycling at $10 per TV. Event participants are encouraged to register in advance as soon as possible at www.atlantakidsrecycleday.org. For convenience and to encourage as many people as possible to participate, this is a drop-off event where volunteers will remove all items from cars and attendees can then simply drive away.
With the holidays approaching, this is the perfect time to recycle bikes, sports equipment and coats, which will be taken by Atlanta Falcon Ovie Mughelli’s foundation at the event and distributed to children who might otherwise go without. Books are also ideal for recycling, with Better World Books accepting and distributing the books to local schools and shelters.
“Our hope is that this event for kids and their families will help children better understand the concept of recycle and reuse,” states Peggy Whitlow Ratcliffe, Executive Director of Live Thrive. “And thanks to the generous support of Ernst & Young, kids will receive a coloring book about recycling so they can learn even more.”
As a special treat, Summer’s Landing is bringing Santa to the event, and Elf Magic is bringing their magical Elf Magic Elves – all to help with recycling toys and thanking children as they drop-off their items. In addition, several other organizations, including Global Imports, Gorilla Sacks, Natural Awakenings, Larabar and the Atlanta Hilton, will be participating as strategic partners and sponsors.
