Fallbrook Technologies Announces Asian Expansion to Meet Increasing Demand for Bicycle Models Equipped with NuVinci® Technology
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Fallbrook Technologies Inc., (“Fallbrook”) developer and manufacturer of the award winning NuVinci continuously variable planetary (CVP) technology, has announced an Asian expansion to meet increased demand for bicycles equipped with the company’s NuVinci N360(TM) CVP transmission and NuVinci Harmony(TM) intelligent drivetrain, the world’s first automatic CVP shifting system for bicycles.
Perfect Sport International Ltd (PSI), headed by bicycle industry veteran Scott Hong, will facilitate Fallbrook’s Asian expansion. With offices in Taiwan and China, PSI, will assist Fallbrook with sales and business development, along with all technical and training aspects around the use of NuVinci. “Our company is excited with this expansion in scope with Fallbrook and we look forward to being a more integral part of the Fallbrook team. NuVinci continues to become increasingly more popular as the smooth shifting drivetrain option for more and more OEMs and their customers throughout Asia and globally,” said Scott Hong of PSI.
“The growth of NuVinci products globally, and the reliance on Asian OEMs and factories, requires a focused, local team to assist our business with technical and sales support in this important and strategic region of the bike business. As part of our ongoing effort to provide world-class customer support, we have partnered with PSI to work along side our global sales and marketing teams,” said Alan M. Nordin, president of Fallbrook’s Bicycle Products Division. “PSI’s significant bicycle industry experience, specifically in Taiwan and China, will help make our global organization stronger.”
The NuVinci CVP is now offered on more than 40 international bicycle brands, including new 2012 models from Breezer, REI Novara, Jamis, Dahon, and Merida to name a few. The NuVinci N360 makes riding more enjoyable with seamless, continuous shifting (even under high pedal torque) over a full 360 percent ratio range, without power interruptions, missed gears or dropped chains. The NuVinci drivetrain’s intuitive shifting with the variable rider controller is fun to use, quickly and easily increasing or decreasing pedaling effort.
The newly-introduced NuVinci Harmony intelligent drivetrain, which recently won a 2011 iF Design/EUROBIKE Design Award, works in conjunction with the NuVinci N360 drivetrain to create a unique and highly enjoyable riding experience. Harmony is the first continuously variable drivetrain offering the option for seamless automatic or manual shifting, and is designed specifically for the fast growing and advancing e-Bike market worldwide. TDR, Panther, Union and Simpel are among a growing number of brands that have Harmony-equipped e-Bike models under development for the 2012 model year.
