Oxygen and CO2 Combo Sensors Makes Calibration Quick and Easy

February 2, 2012

ORMOND BEACH, Fla., Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — One of the largest costs of monitoring gas levels is the ongoing costs of sensor calibration. The CO2Meter.com line of oxygen and oxygen-carbon dioxide combination sensors drastically reduces maintenance costs by simplifying the calibration process.

The TR250Z Oxygen Sensor and Oxygen-Carbon Dioxide Combination Sensor are both designed to be calibrated in-situ with a push of a button using normal room air. This simplified process means that calibration can now be done quickly and at regular intervals by available maintenance personnel instead of outsourcing the task. In addition, the sensors can be monitored off-site, or manually calibrated for ISO, FDA or other compliance certification.

For oxygen or carbon dioxide storage monitoring, under normal conditions, no calibration is required. This makes these sensors uniquely effective for cryogenics labs, for example.

Oxygen sensors are used in any environment where oxygen depletion can occur. This includes liquid nitrogen storage (cryo-rooms), vacuum test chambers, “permit-required” enclosed spaces, or any workplace that contains pressurized gases that can displace oxygen.

In addition, oxygen sensors are used to detect air leaks inside sealed glove boxes used in scientific and industrial processes like light bulb manufacturing.

Combined oxygen/carbon dioxide sensors are used in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) operations for the packaging and transport of meat, poultry, fruit, vegetables, agricultural storage as well as environmental safety applications.

“Calibration is critical for oxygen sensors,” said Ray Hicks, President of CO2Meter.com. “Our sensors meet the needs of maintenance managers as well as compliance officers who need to balance tight budgets, training and worker safety.”

In addition to its innovative calibration features, the sensors support both the industry-standard 4-20mA protocol used in process controllers and RS-485 for advanced applications where precise transmission of sensor readings is required.
