Mercedes-Benz of New Orleans Announces New Plant in Hungary
NEW ORLEANS, March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Mercedes-Benz of New Orleans, a New Orleans Mercedes-Benz dealer, is proud to announce that Mercedes-Benz is expanding into Eastern Europe with a new factory that was recently constructed in Hungary.
Mercedes-Benz’s new plant will be located in Kecskemet, Hungary which is roughly 60 miles away from Budapest, Hungary’s capital. The plant will offer 3,000 new jobs to the local area and is also believed to increase local supplier’s workforce by more than triple that! Once all was said and done the plant cost Mercedes-Benz upwards of $1.06 billion dollars. Although it may seem like a lot, this plant will pay for itself faster than some would think.
The plant will make Mercedes-Benz’s B-Class and will produce 100,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles a year. There will be a special ceremony to commence the opening of the plant with both Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Daimler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche in attendance.
This plant will go down in Hungarian history as one of the largest-ever direct investments in Hungary. It will also help boost Hungary’s economy and reduce unemployment in the area.
