Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

10Rate reviewers and staff selected 10 of the best casserole dishes for 2012, assigning each a numerical rating as well as awarding three dishes that stood out for quality, value, and budget. Testing and consideration for this Casserole Dishes Top 10 list were given based on the following set of eight criteria:

1. Safe to go in the oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher

2. Easy-grip handles

3. A secure fitting lid to seal in heat and moisture

4. Durable surface that doesn´t stain, chip, or crack

5. Nonporous material that doesn´t absorb odors or flavors

6. Pre-seasoned

7. Non-sticking

8. Even heat distribution

The annual Best Stoneware 2012 awards list was headed by the Rada Cutlery Stoneware Rectangular Baking Pan, winning the Best Quality spot and a near flawless 9.5 out of 10 rating. The review noted several strengths of the casserole container as follows: “Baking lasagna and casserole is easy with this Rada Cutlery rectangular pan, measuring 9” x 13”. Its tough stoneware surface is naturally stick-resistant; while pre-seasoning isn´t required, you may wish to spray it with some cooking oil to help with baking wet batters. We were impressed by how incredibly durable the pan is, even when you take it from the freezer and immediately stick it in a hot oven. It doesn´t crack or chip easily, and you can even throw it in the dishwasher to clean it.”

10rate’s editors also gave the Best Value Casserole Dish award to the Le Creuset Stoneware Bakers. With a rating of 9 out of 10, the review boasted, “You´ll appreciate these Le Creuset stoneware bakers when you want to prepare lasagna or cobbler for the family dinner. Rectangular and somewhat small, they´re safe to go in the oven, microwave, and freezer. The tough enamel surface won´t chip or crack, and its nonporous material won´t retain odors or flavors. Cleaning these bakers is a breeze, too, because they´re dishwasher friendly.”

Additionally, the Best Budget award from the Top 10 Best Casserole Dishes list went to the Pyrex Casserole Bakeware, for which 10rate noted, “Pyrex has long been a trusted name when it comes to bakeware, and this 2-quart casserole with a lid is a durable, all-purpose dish. It cooks dishes like lasagnas and cobblers evenly and efficiently. With the lid on, you can reheat meals in the microwave without making a big mess. It´s safe to go in the dishwasher, freezer, and oven, too. Durable and hard to break or chip, it´s only at risk if you expose it to sudden temperature changes. Lightweight and fairly small, it´s still capacious enough to prepare good-size meals.”

Le Creuset, Lodge, and Rachel Ray were featured for multiple dishes in 10rate’s Stoneware Reviews. One such Rachel Ray Casserole Dish, the Rachel Ray Stoneware Lasagna Lover Pan, got a 9 out of 10 on the list for qualities such as “a fun, contemporary style: curved sides and wide handles that extend from the ends like wings. You can grip the pan easily even when you´re wearing oven mitts. The pan is safe to use in 500-degree ovens, microwaves, freezers, and dishwashers. Food really doesn´t stick to the pan, and any that does bake on wipes off easily.”
