Disabled Veterans National Foundation Announces Grant to Help Combat-Wounded Veterans Receive Sports and Recreational Therapy

$5,000 DVNF Grant Gives Wounded Veterans 2-Week Course. The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (http://www.dvnf.org), a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, has awarded a $5,000 grant to a nonprofit group near Jackson Hole, WY called Honoring Our Veterans (http://www.honorvets.org).

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (http://www.dvnf.org), a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, has awarded a $5,000 grant to a nonprofit group near Jackson Hole, Wyoming called Honoring Our Veterans (http://www.honorvets.org).

The program near Jackson Hole provides combat-wounded veterans with sport and recreational therapy. Each course is two weeks long and offers activities to strengthen physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning. Some of these activities include; horseback riding, fly-fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking and scenic tours. The DVNF $5,000 grant covers the cost of several veterans´ participation in the program and will also cover the travel, food and lodging costs for the participants.

“We are pleased our $5,000 will help many of these combat-wounded veterans take part in this intensive and wonderful program run by Honoring Our Veterans near Jackson Hole,” said Raegan Rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of DVNF. “We at DVNF understand the importance of the sports and recreational therapy for these heroes and we are glad to help more of them take part.”

DVNF provides grants including Organizational Grants to groups who share the same goals as DVNF such as helping homeless veterans and their families. The GPS (Grant to Provide Stability) is available to help veterans and their families pay rent or mortgage bills or utility bills.
