Employees safely return Plant Hatch’s Unit 2 to service following planned maintenance outage
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Unit 2 of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant near Baxley, Ga., has resumed generating electricity after a successful, planned maintenance outage. Electricity production resumed today at 5:25 a.m. ET.
“The Plant Hatch team performed maintenance and various inspections to reinforce our capability to produce reliable electricity generation throughout the peak summer operating period,” said Dennis Madison, Plant Hatch site vice president. “Our employees performed very well, and their commitment to excellence ensured the outage was performed effectively while maintaining safety as their primary focus.”
Also during the outage, Plant Hatch’s Unit 1 continued to safely generate electricity.
