Organix Announces Gerry Hood Joins Advisory Board
WALLA WALLA, Wash., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Organix, Inc. of Walla Walla, Washington announced today that Gerry Hood has been added to its Advisory Board to help oversee the final development and national rollout of the company’s RePeet(TM) brand soil amendment. The Board is comprised of officers at Organix, financiers and industry experts.
Mr. Hood was the president of the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association (CSPMA) for twenty years – from inception in 1988 until retiring from the position in 2008. In that position he represented the Canadian peat industry in negotiations with provincial and federal governments, consulted with environmentalists that have an interest in peatlands, and acted as the industry spokesperson. For 25 years prior to his work with the peat association, he was president of an Alberta based peat producer. Additionally, Mr. Hood is also past president of the International Peat Society, which has members in 36 countries.
“I am excited about what Organix has accomplished with RePeet(TM),” says Hood. “Growth trials and customer feedback is confirming what we were hoping – that RePeet(TM) can complement or act as a possible alternative to bog grown peat. There is a significant opportunity here for growers, soil producers and the peat industry as well. I am looking forward to being part of this team.”
Russell Davis, Organix President, explains, “As Advisory Board Member, Gerry will be assisting Organix on product development and marketing. There is no question that he is clearly an expert and leader in his field. He is also a great guy to work with and that makes him an exceptional addition to our team.”
RePeet(TM) is manufactured from dairy fiber resulting from the anaerobic digestion of manure for renewable energy production. An anaerobic digester acts like a short term, renewable peat bog – submerging the fiber for up to 45 days. Organix further processes the fiber after digestion with its patented system, improving the fiber’s characteristics as a peat-like, soil amendment.
