Air Force Chief Scientist Guest Speaker for AFA’s July Air Force Breakfast Session

ARLINGTON, Va., June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Air Force Association is pleased to announce Dr. Maybury, AF/ST Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force, as the guest speaker for the July session of AFA’s 2012 Air Force Breakfast Program. This event will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.

In his position, Dr. Maybury serves as the leading scientific adviser to the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Air Force, and provides assessments on a wide range of scientific and technical issues affecting the Air Force mission. In this role he identifies and analyzes technical issues and brings them to attention of Air Force leaders, and interacts with other Air Staff principals, operational commanders, combatant commands, acquisition, and science and technology communities to address cross-organizational technical issues and solutions. He also interacts with other services and the Office of the Secretary of Defense on issues affecting the Air Force in-house technical enterprise.

A former Air Force officer, Dr. Maybury is currently on a leave of absence as an Executive Director at the MITRE Corporation. He has edited or co-authored 10 books, authored more than 60 refereed publications, and been awarded several U.S. patents.

The Air Force Breakfast Program is a monthly series that provides a venue for senior Air Force and Department of Defense leaders to communicate directly with the public and the press. Past speakers include Secretary of the Air Force Michael B. Donley; Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Norton A. Schwartz; and Gen. Gary L. North, Commander of Pacific Air Forces.
