Britain has just endured its wettest April and May since records began, and there was

moisture to condense and turn into rain – unlike the Welsh mountains and the Pennines do
for Britain. The higher western Canary Islands receive plenty of rain on their mountainous
northern slopes. Most of the rain rolls in from the West and falls over the other islands
before reaching Lanzarote. The island sits, effectively, in a rain shadow.
And that’s just rainfall. The average temperature in Lanzarote across May June and
July is around 26 degrees. Even better, the sea surrounding Lanzarote, and lapping against
its beautiful beaches, rarely drops below 18degree(s)C. In summer, it can be anything up
