Fixtures Living Awarded LEED SILVER® Green Building Certification For Costa Mesa Store

June 28, 2012

SAN DIEGO, June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Fixtures Living, a revolutionary retail concept specializing in premium lifestyle products for the home, is excited to announce that its Costa Mesa, CA location has been awarded a LEED SILVER® Green Building Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED certification provides independent, third party verification that a building project is not only environmentally responsible but also a profitable and healthy place to live and work.

“Some may associate being ‘green’ with being expensive or costing more, but that’s simply not true,” said Jeffery R. Sears, CEO of Fixtures Living. “We are extremely proud of the sustainable features in our Costa Mesa showroom. We strive to showcase not only the best in green products, but the best in design and practice as well. Perhaps just as importantly, none of the costs associated with this green initiative impacts the customer — our pricing is very competitive.”

The Fixtures Living Costa Mesa location was specifically constructed with materials that reduce emissions as well as energy consumption. Furthermore, the store employed environmentally-friendly techniques during construction such as increased ventilation and reduced water use. Now finished, the store operates in a manner that minimizes its impact on the environment.

“Fixtures Living’s LEED certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “The urgency of USGBC’s mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before, and Fixtures Living’s design achievements serve as a prime example of just how much we can accomplish.”

The features of the store highlighted in the LEED certification include a 30% reduction in water use and a 30% increase in ventilation. Additionally, extra points were awarded in the categories of development density and community connectivity.

Fixtures Living’s 25,000 sq. ft. store opened in Costa Mesa last September within the South Coast Collection, home to the country’s most forward-thinking design showrooms, creative studios and retailers. The space — which industry pundits have described as nothing short of a paradigm shift — allows visitors to experience and interact with lifestyle products in a whole new way. It’s an effect achieved by a unique partnership between Fixtures Living and FITCH, the world’s preeminent source for inspired retail design.

The official LEED Plaque will be awarded to the store during a USGBC “Green Home Showcase” meeting to be held at the Costa Mesa store on July 26, 2012.
