The Stars in Service event is designed to introduce JFI and its programs to Montanans in order to highlight our work to educate our nation’s youth about the importance of America’s unique freedoms and history. In addition to renowned journalist, author and JFI Advisory Board member, Tom Brokaw, serving as the keynote speaker, attendees will also be able to participate in two equestrian clinics earlier in the day presented by Clinton Anderson of Downunder Horsemanship.
“It is an honor to be recognized for something that you love doing,” said 2012 Public Service Honoree Bruce Wendt. “It is critical that our young people understand their country’s history if they are to be active and engaged citizens. I appreciate all that the Joe Foss Institute is doing to help meet this need all across the country.”
“Serving your country can come in many forms – from military service to holding an elected office to volunteering at your local school or community center,” explained 2012 Military Service Honoree Don Hargrove. “Giving back is one of the ideals that makes the United States such a wonderful country and I am proud to work with the Joe Foss Institute to show our children here in Montana how they can give back even at their age.”
