Wildlife Habitat Council And American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers Announce Partnership
WASHINGTON, July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) and American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that establishes a strategic partnership between the two organizations. Through the MOU, WHC and AFPM have agreed to seek joint projects that result in progress toward the mutual goals of the two organizations.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the two organizations, including engaging in and demonstrating corporate leadership, establishing a joint awards program, and encouraging industry managers’ participation and community involvement in restoration projects. It also provides opportunities for each group to participate and make presentations at the other’s workshops, conferences and meetings.
WHC and AFPM recognize the special and complementary capabilities and resources of their respective organizations, projects, and partners for addressing these concerns and recognize the importance of building a strong partnership in order to achieve the goals of this MOU.
“WHC values our partnership with American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers. This agreement reinforces industry’s commitment to voluntary efforts that curb the global loss of wildlife habitat and biodiversity, including involvement through conservation education and community engagement,” said Robert Johnson, WHC President.
“AFPM is proud to lead our membership in working with the Wildlife Habitat Council to advance their goals. Our member companies have always been a part of the communities in which they operate, and this new commitment will take their community involvement a step further. Working together, the members of our two organizations can make a positive change,” AFPM President Charles T. Drevna said.
The Wildlife Habitat Council is a nonprofit, non-lobbying 501(c)3 group of corporations, conservation organizations, and individuals dedicated to restoring and enhancing wildlife habitat. Formed in 1988, WHC was the first organization to bring together conservation and business. They work with corporations and other landowners to create tailored voluntary wildlife habitat enhancement and conservation education programs on corporate facilities and in the communities where they operate. WHC’s programs take corporate sustainability goals and objectives and translate them into tangible and measurable on-the-ground action. Through a focus on building collaboration for conservation with corporate employees, other conservation organizations, government agencies and community members, WHC programs focus on connecting wildlife through corridors projects, connecting people to nature and connecting communities through partnerships.
