Martel Electronics introduces the LC-110H Loop Calibrator

July 23, 2012

DERRY, N.H., July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Does the process instrumentation industry really need another loop calibrator? If it also puts HART diagnostic capabilities into the hands of everyday users at an everyday price, the answer is an emphatic YES.

The new LC-110H is another revolutionary calibrator from Martel Electronics that puts more power and “smarts” into the hands of technicians.

HART technology itself revolutionized process instrumentation by putting more capabilities into every transmitter. This new LC-110H allows technicians to access that information — the digital guts of every HART transmitter. With better access to more information, every technician can do a better job of troubleshooting, calibrating and maintaining these sophisticated systems.

In the past, the only way for techs to have access to the internal operations of a HART instrument was to use an expensive communicator or high end documenting calibrator — tools not often found in the technician’s tool bag. That’s changed. Most every tech has a loop calibrator and now that loop calibrator can be one that talks HART, yielding the same trove of information as found in those expensive devices such as, TAG, PV, LRV, URV, manufacturer, serial number and much, much more.

The engineers at Martel put a lot of thought into how exactly this would work in a normally simple device like a loop calibrator. They kept it familiar, fast and functional.

The LC-110H has the familiar rotating knob style of operation. A Quick-Set(TM) click of the knob is all it takes to select a feature.

Fast, the digital LC-110H can make real-time adjustments where the transmitter output tracks the rotation of the knob.

Functional means it reads the PV, trims analog output, adjusts LRV and URV, downloads and stores transmitter configurations, even does sophisticated digital/analog hybrid data logging with the optional BetaLOG software.

The list of features for the LC-110H and its virtual twin, the LC-110, is equally impressive. Accuracy is a best-in-class plus-or-minus 0.01 percent of reading for DC current and voltage. The display is a highly readable ClearBrite(TM) black on white backlit LCD. You can fire up a transmitter with the 24 VDC instrument power supply. There’s great battery life using 6 AAA batteries. The 250 ohm HART load resistor is built-in and can be switched on or off by the user. User features include auto stepping and ramping, Martel’s selected decade knob control for the output, valve test function and auto-shutdown to preserve battery life.

The LC-110H ergonomics are world-class, too. It’s small enough to be operated with one hand and weighs less than a cup of coffee. Best of all, because it’s a calibrator and easy to carry around, it will be right in the technician’s toolbox on the job when it’s needed and will get access to the HART information to get the job done.
