WageWorks and Central Parking Offer NYC Commuters Increased Savings on Parking
NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — WageWorks (NYSE: WAGE), the provider of TransitChek commuter benefits, and Central Parking announced today an exclusive program that offers New York City commuters preferred pricing on parking at participating Central Parking locations. This preferred pricing is available only to WageWorks and TransitChek customers enrolled in their commuter benefits program. Eligible participants will be able to save anywhere from 10% to more than 50% off regular rates on monthly parking. These savings are in addition to what commuters can save by using pretax dollars through the use of a WageWorks or TransitChek commuter benefits program, which allows participants to set aside pretax dollars to pay for parking or public transportation.
This program, which was launched on August 15, 2012, is being offered at more than 75 Central Parking locations throughout the New York City metro area and is available to commuters who already have, or sign up for, a WageWorks or TransitChek commuter benefits account. The new program is available exclusively to monthly parkers.
“We believe every employee deserves an easier, less expensive commute. We’re thrilled that this program is allowing us to help participants in WageWorks and TransitChek commuter benefit programs keep more of their hard earned money,” said Dan Neuburger, President of WageWorks Commuter Services. Manhattan is the most expensive city for parking in the United States, where rates average $541 a month in midtown, according to a 2011 survey by Colliers International.
“We are excited to be partnering with WageWorks and TransitChek on this exclusive offer as it provides commuters with significant savings by bringing together the benefits of the pretax commuter program with a monthly parking program discount,” said Rick West, Executive Vice President of Central Parking.
Commuter benefits programs have been adopted by thousands of employers nationwide and are used by an estimated 2.7 million employees, according to industry figures published by the coalition Commuter Benefits Work for Us.
