Thermafiber Releases RainBarrier HD

August 16, 2012

WABASH, Ind., Aug. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Thermafiber has officially announced the release of a new continuous insulation product. RainBarrier HD (Heavy Density) is a rigid insulation board with a consistent 6.0pcf density throughout the entire thickness. The consistent density from top to bottom simplifies installation by eliminating the need to orient the insulation in a certain direction like other mixed-density products. The increased density enhances the rigidity and ease of fabrication. The mineral wool board is non-combustible and provides exceptional R-values of 4.2 per inch of thickness. In addition to fire resistance and energy efficiency, RainBarrier HD is permeable, controls sound and is available with up to 90% certified-recycled content.

“The continuous insulation market is rapidly evolving,” says Michael Williams, Executive Vice President. “There are certain rainscreen applications where contractors prefer a more rigid mineral wool board. The new RainBarrier HD product will meet that need and be a great compliment to our popular RainBarrier 45. The building community continues to embrace mineral wool versus foam in these applications because our products are significantly less expensive, they are easier to work with and they won’t burn.”

Mineral wool continuous insulation is commonly used in masonry cavity construction and open joint facade systems. New literature and installation guides for the RainBarrier product family can be found on Thermafiber’s website. RainBarrier HD, RainBarrier 45, RainBarrier attachment clips and insulation hanger systems are all supported by the Thermafiber Insolutions team which provides clients with custom CAD drawings, technical support and engineering judgments.
