Eastern Region Helicopter Council names Saker Aviation as Heliport of the Year
WILKES-BARRE and SCRANTON, Pa., Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Saker Aviation Services, Inc. (SKAS), an aviation services company specializing in ground-based services to the general aviation marketplace, announced today that it had been named as the Eastern Region Helicopter Council (ERHC) Heliport of the Year at that organization’s annual meeting this past weekend.
“We are extremely honored to accept the Heliport of the Year Award,” said Ronald J. Ricciardi, CEO at Saker Aviation. “ERHC is an organization of pilots, corporate flight departments and other organizations that support the helicopter industry. As such, they assess potential recipients with a highly educated eye. We’re particularly proud that the award acknowledged our community compatibility and cooperation and recognized the major enhancements and updates we’ve made to the facility to provide greater passenger safety and comfort.”
At the same ERHC meeting, each of Saker’s tenant operators collectively received this year’s Fly Neighborly Award. This award is given to those operators that fly in a responsible manner, maximizing noise abatement procedures for affected communities. “We’ve worked closely with each of our tenant operators to establish and manage compliance with noise abatement procedures,” stated Brian Tolbert, Saker Heliport Manager. “This award says that each of them has been flying in accordance with voluntary measures and that the industry acknowledges the success of this effort to achieve noise abatement.”
