Mansfield to Open Second CNG Fueling Site in Weld County, CO

September 28, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Ga., Sept. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Mansfield Energy Corp. announced today it will open its second compressed natural gas retail fueling station on October 18, 2012 in Greeley, located in Weld County, Colorado, under the fueling brand, SkyBlu. This station opening coincides with Odyssey Day, a biennial outreach event sponsored by Northern Colorado Clean Cities (NCCC) and the National Alternative Fuel Training Consortium, groups dedicated to promoting the use of alternative fuel and advanced vehicle technologies. Industry professionals will provide presentations on alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies along with insights on local applications, successes, and plans for the future. The event begins at 8:30am at Aims Automotive and Technology Center, 1120 S. Gate Dr., Windsor and concludes with the SkyBlu Greeley station ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2pm at 1607 2nd Avenue, Greeley.

The new SkyBlu CNG station is partially funded by Congestion, Mitigation, and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant monies through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) along with matching funds from Mansfield, Anadarko, Noble Energy and Encana. All companies are local Natural Gas Coalition partners within the Oil & Gas Industry. Mansfield owns and operates the Greeley CNG site which will be open to the public 24 hours a day. Like the Firestone location which opened in June, the new Greeley location will offer a dual hose fast fill dispenser to provide fueling for light, medium and heavy duty CNG vehicles.

The station will also include a Mansfield Fuel Management System (FMS) which records and processes all transactions, delivers a receipt to public consumers, and provides reporting capabilities for private/government sector customers. The FMS accepts standard credit cards such as Visa®, MasterCard® and American Express® as well as fleet cards such as Voyager and Wright Express.

J. Alexander, President of Mansfield Energy Corp., said, “Mansfield is working hard with our industry partners to develop the CNG infrastructure in the U.S. Through our SkyBlu retail brand, we’re able to deliver readily-available, cleaner-burning compressed natural gas to commercial, government and public customers in the Weld County area. CNG represents a tremendous opportunity for our country as it provides significant cost savings and emissions reductions for both large fleets and private consumers.”

CNG-fueled vehicles produce far fewer emissions than gasoline and diesel-fueled vehicles, including 90-97% less carbon monoxide, 87% fewer volatile organic compounds, a 35-60% reduction in nitrogen oxides, and 30% less carbon dioxide. Additionally, CNG costs up to 30% less than diesel at the pump. The use of CNG as a transportation fuel also advances U.S. energy independence, since 70% of the oil our nation imports is used for transportation.

“Odyssey Day is a nationwide educational event conducted to promote the use of and to educate the public on the importance of alternative fuel vehicles and advanced vehicle technologies,” said Sheble McConnellogue, Coalition Coordinator of Northern Colorado Clean Cities. “We are happy to partner with Mansfield’s SkyBlu brand to help bring local attention to the vehicles, fuels, and technology that are available to help our nation reduce our dependence on foreign petroleum, provide better air quality, and offer more efficient choices in transportation.”

The Odyssey Day/SkyBlu event is free of charge, including lunch sponsored by Nissan, and is open to the public. Pre-registration is appreciated. To register, email Maria Eisemann at and visit NCCC’s website at for an event agenda.
