Ness Technologies to Launch New Generation of the Sixth Sense System at the Israel HLS 2012 Conference
TEL AVIV, Israel, November 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –
Ness Technologies, a global provider of information technology services and solutions,
announced today that it will launch – at the Israel HLS 2012 conference – a new version of
the company’s The Sixth Sense technology, a pioneering video object-tracking system that
detects suspicious behavior of humans and vehicles in real-time, in dense urban
environments. The Israel HLS 2012 international conference on homeland security will be
held November 11-14, 2012 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Sixth Sense is an automatic system that alerts the operator to abnormal patterns
of motion. The target scene is surveyed by video cameras, so moving objects (humans and
vehicles) are automatically detected and tracked. The system examines each trajectory in
order to determine whether it is normal or not. Two types of alert are produced by the
system. The first is based on user definitions, such as loitering, running, abrupt
direction changes, gathering etc. The second is based on automatic routine learning: the
behavioral statistics of the scene are continuously accumulated and analyzed, providing
the definition for routine in the given place at the given time. Any behavior
significantly different from the routine is flagged as abnormal.
The new generation of The Sixth Sense draws the operator’s attention to unusual or
abnormal behavior anywhere in the entire scene (for example, when a person or vehicle
moves from one area to another) or in specific areas. Abnormal behavior can be defined as
a combination of suspicious indicators specific to each area.
The Sixth Sense is suitable for protecting border checkpoints, sensitive facilities,
central transportation stations, shopping malls, and any crowded public area or event. The
Sixth Sense can be installed either as a standalone system or as part of a comprehensive
security system.
“Terror and crime in urban areas are growing threats to public safety in many
countries. The Sixth Sense enables police, homeland security and military forces to
detect, investigate and neutralize a wide range of potential threats, both in routine and
emergency times,” said Michael Zinderman, President, Technologies & Systems Group (TSG),
Ness Technologies. “The Sixth Sense’s new generation is an important milestone in our
portfolio of innovative systems serving military, homeland security, law enforcement and
emergency agencies.”
