Brazil Interested to Invest USD 4.5 Billion in Ukraine

November 19, 2012

KYIV, Ukraine, November 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

Brazil submitted to Ukrainian authorities USD 4.5 billion worth of investment
proposals. “We want to build the mini-tractors production plant in Ukraine as well as
purchase shipbuilding and pharmaceutical manufacturing technology,” said Jose Barouki,
director of trade and investment company Daruvar S.A. during the Ukrainian investment
roadshow in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

According to the Advisor to the President Brazilian Development Bank D. Rodriguez,
Ukraine could become a very interesting platform for Brazilian investors, especially given
the strategic location of Ukraine. The Bank will consider investing into National Projects
of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s roadshow for investment opportunities, which started on September 26, 2012,
will take place in 15 financial and economic centers around the world. The objective is to
promote investor opportunities of the Europe’s second largest country including its
National Projects: “LNG-terminal”, “Open World”, “Clean City”, “Technopolis”, “Industrial
parks”, “City ring road” as well as agricultural projects.

In May 2012, Brazil state pharmaceutical group Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz signed a purchase
contract with Ukrainian insulin producer Indar for 3.5 million vials of genetically
engineered human insulin. The Brazilian experts stated that they chose their Ukrainian
partner based on quality of their product. Ukraine and Brazil also have a preliminary
agreement to establish bilateral insulin production in Brazil using Ukrainian technology
by 2014.

Brazil is Ukraine’s largest trade partner in Latin America. Bilateral trade
cooperation between the two countries includes such areas as gas transporting equipment,
ships, and planes. Additionally, two countries trade energy, metallurgy, agricultural
machinery, electric welding, geological exploration, oil and gas pipe construction, IT,
and pharmaceuticals.

The most notable aspect of the Ukraine-Brazil cooperation at the moment is the
Alcantara Cyclone Space project. The binational platform is financially beneficial for the
parties due to its close proximity to the equator (2degree(s)17 S 44degree(s)23 W).
The cost of rocket launch from this location is 20 percent less than average.

In 2011, Ukraine exported to Brazil goods worth USD 472.6 million which is 31 percent
more than in 2010, reported the Ukrainian state statistics service. Brazilian export to
Ukraine, on the other hand, amounted to USD 543 million in the same year, demonstrating 18
percent growth compared to 2010.
