Hanes® and The Salvation Army Launch Fourth Annual Sock Drive

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Dec. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Hanes(®), America’s No. 1 Sock Brand, announces its fourth annual sock drive to bring comfort in the form of half a million socks to those who need it most. Kicking off the national sock drive efforts, Hanes will host a live event today in partnership with The Salvation Army providing socks and food to those in need on Los Angeles’ Skid Row. The LA sock drive will be joined by homeless advocate Mark Horvath, who helps distribute Hanes socks throughout the year to those affected by homelessness as part of his mission to bring a face to the growing issue.

In addition to this year’s donation of 500,000 socks and support of community sock drives around the country, Hanes also invited its Facebook fans to help “share the comfort” in a virtual drive to contribute an additional 50,000 socks to support those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Earlier this month, HanesBrands partnered with Fashion Delivers to provide more than $1 million worth of apparel to the regions most affected by the storm. Fashion Delivers is a New York-based nonprofit organization that distributes apparel and home furnishings to victims of natural disasters around the world.
