During the “Share the Love” event – which will run through January 2, 2013 – Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of one of five charities, including the ASPCA.

Since 2008, the ASPCA has received over $5.6 million from Subaru during the “Share the Love” event and has been the No. 1 charity choice of consumers every year, reflecting the commitment that Subaru and Subaru owners have to helping animals. One hundred percent of the ASPCA’s fifth annual “Share the Love” event donation will be distributed as grants to animal welfare organizations across the country. Over 130 grants have already been distributed for adoption and spay/neuter programs, animal cruelty investigations and raids, and to animal shelters affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The ASPCA is also working to connect shelters with local dealerships for “Share the Love” Shelter-Dealership adoption events. To date, over 80 adoption events are scheduled nationwide, funded in part by grants from the ASPCA. To keep up with the growing list of “Share the Love” Shelter-Dealership events, visit www.aspca.org/Subaru and click “Share the Love” Event.

The ASPCA is also inviting those who attend these events to take photos and send updates using the hashtag #aspcaSTL. Those who cannot attend events can still see all of the action by following this hashtag on Twitter.

“For the past five years, we have been honored to be a part of Subaru’s ‘Share the Love’ event and are thankful for the overwhelming support from Subaru and Subaru owners,” said Elysia Howard, vice president of marketing & licensing for the ASPCA. “We are excited to be able to pay it forward by helping shelters and Subaru dealerships across the country hold adoption events for their communities during this special time of year.”

“The ASPCA is a long time Subaru partner,” said Abana Jacobs, promotional/sponsorship specialist for Subaru. “Since 2009 Subaru has partnered with the ASPCA to conduct hundreds of events, which has resulted in thousands of animal companion adoptions. Our company and our owners share the ASPCA’s commitment to animal welfare. We are pleased to have them join the ‘Share the Love’ roster again this year.”

In addition to the ASPCA, Subaru customers can choose to support Alzheimer’s Association(®), Make-A-Wish(®), Meals On Wheels Association of America(®), or USO.
