The Fusion Hybrids are being delivered to Esurance claims personnel nationwide starting this week. The Fusion was recently named Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal, and the uber-modern cars are expected to provide up to 50 percent better gas mileage than the current Esurance claims fleet of hybrid Ford Escapes.
Over the next five years, Esurance expects the new Fusion Hybrids to save 370,530 gallons of gas compared to a non-hybrid Fusion. The resulting reduction in carbon emissions – 3,301 metric tons – is equivalent to planting 84,641 trees.
The company’s Ford Escapes will be gradually retired over time, but they have served the company well for a number of years. Since 2008, the Esurance claims team collectively logged more than seven million miles on the road helping customers — like driving to the moon and back 14 times.

- A regenerative braking system that uses the electric motor as a generator, converting the vehicle’s momentum back to electricity for storage in the batteries

- Cloth seats made from 100% post-industrial and post-consumer waste
- Cushions and head restraints that use foam derived from plants seeds
