Pneumatic Light Mast with Eighteen Feet of Extension Released by Larson Electronics
KEMP, Texas, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Adding to its wide array of industrial grade lighting and accessories, Larson Electronics has announced release of a high performance light mast designed to operate with compressed air for easy and safe deployment. Designed to provide high stability and easy operation, the PLM-18 Pneumatic Light Mast can elevate 150 lbs of lighting equipment up to 18 feet in height safely and quickly without tiring hand cranks or winches. Powered by an included compressor and prewired for connecting power and devices, this mast is ideal for construction and industrial professionals who desire an easily and quickly deployed tower solution.
The Larson Electronics PLM-18 telescoping pneumatic light mast operates pneumatically with high pressure air and gives operators the ability to deploy lighting equipment, cameras, and electronic devices quickly and safely without the need for tiring hand cranks or winches. This tower is powered by an included 1/3 horsepower compressor and all the wiring is mounted internally within a 6 wire harness with 12 inches of wiring extended from both ends of the tower for easy connection of power sources and devices. A release valve located at the bottom of the tower allows operators to easily collapse the unit for precise height control or transport. The tower is comprised of three sections and can be extended to heights ranging from 8 feet to 18 feet, allowing operators to elevate the equipment according to the best operation of the attached devices. The bottom of this tower features a 12 inch square, ½ inch thick mounting base-plate which has been drilled to accept four ¾ inch mounting bolts for secure installation onto truck beds or mounting platforms. The upper end of the light tower features a 24 inch wide and ¼ inch thick locking mounting plate to allow easy connection and removal of lighting equipment and similar devices. The tower itself is constructed of heat treated aluminum tubing, providing high strength and durability as well as lighter weight than steel towers. The tower and hardware weighs 300 lbs and can easily support up to 150 lbs of equipment safely. This is a heavy duty tower assembly and ideal for commercial and industrial applications where fast setup and secure placement is important. Larson Electronics also offers a variety of options with this unit including outfitting the tower with metal halide or LED light bars, custom section lengths, and larger mounting plates.
“Now operators have a choice of a crank up mast, which requires no power or a pneumatic mast that requires a compressor for their light mast assemblies,” said Rob Bresnahan with LarsonElectronics.com. “Often times, the decision comes down to how often the payload is going to be deployed. For payloads, like light heads, that are rarely deployed, the crank up mast may be sufficient. For payloads that will be deployed regularly and power is abundant, the pneumatic mast will be a better choice.”
