MPOWERD Partners With A New Course For Buy One Give One With Luci Lantern
NEW YORK, Feb. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — MPOWERD (www.mpowerd.com) announced today that it is partnering with Seattle-based non-profit A New Course (www.anewcourse.org) to implement a Buy One Give One campaign for the company’s micro solar-powered lantern, Luci. With each Luci purchase, MPOWERD will send one Luci to someone living in energy poverty.
A New Course provides women with the support and resources they need to spearhead conservation efforts and sustainable development. The organization helps women overcome a number of challenges, including malnutrition and disease, lack of basic education and limited access to reliable energy sources. A New Course plans to distribute Luci lanterns to women around the world living in ecologically vulnerable areas, as they seek to improve the lives of their families and communities.
“Women are uniquely impacted by energy poverty, as they are the main suppliers and providers of fuel in their homes. A New Course is a perfect partner for our Buy One Give One, they allow us to reach women who need clean, reliable, environmentally friendly energy solutions and are already committed to sustainable efforts that will have a dramatic impact,” said Jacques-Philippe Piverger, MPOWERD’s CEO and Co-founder.
“With these lights, women whose days are consumed with the work of providing food and water for their families will now push back the darkness, creating time for themselves and their families. For the first time in their lives, they will not be limited and controlled by their environment. And that,” said New Course CEO Jamie Bechtel, “will be profoundly empowering.”
Luci can be purchased through the MPOWERD website, www.mpowerd.com, or on Amazon.com.
