Larson Electronics Releases Compact Infrared LED Light Emitter
KEMP, Texas, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Larson Electronics has introduced a powerful yet compact infrared LED light designed to provide operators with an effective way to improve the effectiveness of their existing night vision and infrared reliant cameras and devices. With its small size and low power requirements, the LEDLB-1-IR Infrared LED Light is ideal for installation on vehicles and ATVs and gives professionals in the military, law enforcement, game protection and security related fields an excellent way to upgrade the operation of their covert night vision equipment.
The Larson Electronics LEDLB-1-IR infrared LED light is a powerful infrared light emitter that offers operators the ability to improve the effectiveness of night vision equipment without bulky fixtures or power hungry incandescent lamps. This infrared LED light is small in size measuring only 2 inches high by 2 inches wide, making it well suited to installation on vehicles and even ATVs where mounting space is limited. This LED light emitter operates on any voltage from 9 to 42 volts DC, making it ideal for connection to 12 or 24 volt power sources and with its low 3 watt diode. Drawing only 0.25 amps on a 12 volt DC power source, the LEDLB-1-IR will not place excessive drain on batteries. Despite its low power requirements, this compact LED emitter produces high output, with an infrared beam reaching up to 225 feet long in spot configuration and 45 feet long by 40 feet wide in flood. The housings on these units are rated IP68 waterproof to three meters of submersion and constructed of extruded aluminum for high strength, with an unbreakable polycarbonate lens for added durability. Integral cooling fins provide effective heat control and also act as a deicing mechanism, helping to prevent buildup of ice in cold and wet conditions. These infrared LED lights also feature a unique housing design that allows the operator to securely connect multiple units together in rows for added power and coverage. The mounting assembly on these lights consists of a stainless steel u-bracket with a single ¼ inch stud protruding from the bottom, making these units very easy to install on roll bars, mounting plates, bumpers, and just about anywhere a ¼ inch hole can be drilled. When ordering these infrared lights operators can choose between spot or flood configurations, and 850nm or 940nm spectral output. Most commonly available night vision devices and security cameras work effectively with 850nm light while high end military equipment works better with light in the 940nm range. The high output and small size of these infrared lights makes them popular with game wardens, law enforcement and security professionals who often rely on night vision equipment in the performance of their duties. These emitters help to improve the resolution and range of night vision devices by increasing the amount of available infrared light and are also becoming popular in the medical field due to their potential benefits in treating skin disorders.
“The LEDLB-1-IR is a powerful LED infrared emitter with a small form factor approximately the size of a 2 inch cube,” said Rob Bresnahan with LarsonElectronics.com. “Applications for this infrared LED light, available in 850nm and 940nm, range from manufacturing to military vehicles.”
