Tap for Tap Launches Monetization, Paid Promotion, Self Promotion Tools and Introduces “Earning Preference” Slider in New UI
After listening to developer feedback, Tap for Tap, announces the expansion of their service to include ad monetization, paid promotion and self promotion tools.

Tap for Tap, a cross-promotion and monetization platform for iOS and Android app developers has evolved a great deal since it was founded by Todd Dunlop and Eric Dyck in March of 2012. Today, after listening to developer feedback, the Victoria, BC startup announces the expansion of their service to include ad monetization, paid promotion and self promotion tools.
Tap for Tap, which began as an impression exchange and evolved to a tap exchange, has attracted over 7000 developers with its attractive proposition of being able to generate 1000s of cost-free app installs. Dunlop and Dyck quickly realized that while their business was successful in helping developers drive installs, user acquisition is only one part of building a successful app business.
Says Dyck, “developers need two things to grow – they need to get users and make money. They also need this process to be simple and straightforward. Tap for Tap is proud to be able to offer developers a full suite of tools for user acquisition and ad monetization to help them grow their app businesses.”
Each account on Tap for Tap has an “Earning Preference” slider allowing developers to choose in real-time what kinds of ads they want to show and how they want to be paid for those ads. With the Earning Preference slider in each account, developers can choose between participating in the Tap Exchange to earn tap credits, or showing regular mobile ads to earn ad revenue.
On the paid promotion side, Tap for Tap’s auction based system is able to provide non-incentivized installs globally for costs that start at $.40 per install, or clicks as low as $.03. Dyck adds that “It’s early days for the monetization network so the costs are pretty low. As competition increases for installs so too will the cost per install.”
Tap for Tap is also rolling out a feature they call Self Promotion which allows it developers with multiple apps to select what portion of their traffic they´d like use to promote their own apps internally.
Dyck expands on what sets his ad network apart from its competitors, “Some of our competitors have cross-promotion, but they don’t have monetization or paid promotion. Some have monetization and paid promotion but no cross-promotion. Some cross-promote within iOS apps but not Android. Some only work with games but not entertainment apps or utilities. Tap for Tap is the total package.”
With this evolution, Tap for Tap’s SDK is able to achieve a 100% fill rate for ads, because if for some reason it can’t show a monetized ad in an app, it will always show an ad from the Tap Exchange.
Tap for Tap´s biggest differentiator might be its flexibility. Dyck expands on this, “our open exchange environment allows Tap or Tap developers to earn tap credits on iOS, where their app might be huge, and spend those credits on creating an Android presence. If your app has a huge base in the UK, but you want to grow your app in Malaysia, our system will allow you to earn in UK and spend in Malaysia. If you have a successful app and are launching a new one, you can earn credits on the big app and spend them to launch your new one. Our developers love this flexibility.”
Tap for Tap has been operating successfully as an open cross-promotion exchange for a year, attracting 7000 developers to their platform in the process. Their evolution from an impression exchange, to a tap exchange to a full scale ad network with cross-promotion as their backbone has been a tall task but a welcome challenge for the 10 person startup. Adds Dyck “We´re certainly not done evolving, improving and growing but this re-launch marks the completion of our core business model. With the addition of paid-promotion, self-promotion and monetization services Tap for Tap proudly announces that it can help all app developers build their app businesses by helping them get users and make money.
