Shangri-La Industries Awarded Project Management Contract For All LYFE Kitchen Restaurant Locations
Following Successful Culver City Opening, Shangri-La Industries to Ensure all Future Projects for Healthy Lifestyle Restaurant to Achieve LEED Certification via the LEED Volume Program
LOS ANGELES, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Shangri-La Industries announced today it has been appointed the project manager for healthy lifestyle restaurant LYFE Kitchen’s expansion across the U.S. Following a successful implementation at its Culver City restaurant, Shangri-La Industries will partner with the LYFE design team to manage all construction and design for additional restaurant locations in Tarzana and West Hollywood, California, as well as future sites in New York City, Denver, and Chicago.
Shangri-La Industries will also ensure LEED® Certification on all future locations by adhering to the LEED® Volume Program. The Program is for organizations planning to certify a large number of design and construction projects or existing buildings. It works by establishing verifiable guidelines that streamline the certification process without compromising LEED’s rigorous standards. This new program dramatically increases the efficiency of LEED certification and lowers the associated costs.
At the recently opened Culver City, California location, LYFE Kitchen and Shangri-La Industries incorporated a warm and inviting ambiance, appealing to all five consumer senses, making LYFE Kitchen a respite from active daily life. The design and construction plan followed LYFE Kitchen’s mission to model and inspire environmentally responsible practices incorporating sustainability as its “sixth sense” which improves the atmosphere that benefits both diners and employees. It also delivers long-term operating efficiency benefits in the area of recurring costs such as power and water.
The Culver City build out adhered to the highest standards in environmental responsibility from sustainable building materials, patio furniture made of recycled milk and juice cartons, bamboo tables and salvaged Sequoia wood community tables. Sustainable features also included an herb wall representing the flavorful herbs and spices found in the great-tasting meals guests enjoy. Diners can also see local agriculture in action via a hydroponic wall that grows more than 60,000 micro greens, a hallmark LYFE Kitchen element.
“The result of the LYFE Culver City project is a dining environment that incorporates the very latest in sustainable design and construction features, enhancing the customer experience and delivering operating efficiencies to LYFE Kitchens’ growing restaurant chain,” said Kamyar Vaghar, vice president, Shangri-La Industries. “Shangri-La Industries has demonstrated project after project that sustainable design and build features are smart, cost-effective and that LEED certification can be part of every businesses’ DNA.”
“Shangri-La Industries did a tremendous job carrying out our restaurant vision and added valuable expertise about how to incorporate sustainable construction and design practices throughout the process,” said Mike Roberts, president and CEO, LYFE Kitchen. “We are excited to hear feedback on the new location from our staff and diners as we continue to grow nationwide.”
