Matheson Expands In The Environmental Field
SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Mark Matheson, CEO, announced the formation of Matheson Environmental (ME). Based in Sacramento, ME is comprised of two operating companies – DECON Environmental Services and Matheson Environmental Services. DECON provides environmental remediation services to a variety of clients throughout the U.S. Since their founding in 1988, they have completed literally hundreds of remediation projects ranging from $2,000 to $10,000,000 in scope. DECON is headquartered in Hayward, CA. Matheson Environmental Services (MES) provides a number of services to its clients including transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials that require special handling. In addition, it offers “lab pack” solutions for clients that need to dispose of outdated or unneeded chemicals. MES currently covers Northern California through offices in Fresno and Hayward.
To lead the new organization, Matheson introduced James Bowley as Division President. Bowley has spent the last 30 years working in both the engineering consulting and industrial/federal construction industries. He has managed multi-million dollar cost-plus, fixed price, and guaranteed fixed price contracts for a wide variety of commercial and government clients’ projects across the U.S. and in overseas locations. Bowley has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Grove City College and has completed Graduate work in Environmental Engineering.
As ME’s Division President, Bowley will oversee the growth of both operating companies. His focus with DECON will be to expand the client base; enlarge the geographic footprint to include domestic and international opportunities; and to broaden the services available to clients. Since MES is a start-up organization, the initial attention will be to growing the base business in Northern California.
Matheson is comprised of three operating Divisions. Matheson Postal Services contracts with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to haul the mail by truck. Matheson Flight Extenders provides services to the USPS at 17 locations where the division handles the exchange of product between the USPS and the USPS air services supplier. In addition, Matheson Flight Extenders manages the ground handling activity for Asiana Airlines at the Portland Airport. The Matheson Environmental division is comprised of DECON Environmental Services and Matheson Environmental Services.
