KLT Industries Provides New England Public Schools With Recycling Solution; School Districts Earn Thousands of Dollars in Revenue in the Process
Ayer, MA-based recycling company’s unique program pays schools for their recycling efforts, rather than charging them
AYER, Mass., May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Did you know that some New England schools actually get paid for their recycling efforts instead of paying to have their recyclables picked up?
More than 80 schools in MA & CT have earned thousands of dollars in revenue in 2011 and 2012 as a result of partnering with KLT Industries for their cardboard and paper recycling needs. KLT Industries’ mixed paper collection program is implemented in schools throughout MA & CT allowing students, school facilities staff, and even parents to utilize strategically placed receptacles located on school campuses for recycling cardboard and various mixed paper products.
The program is free of charge and has saved school districts thousands of dollars by eliminating costly removal services from their previous haulers. The program has paid school districts nearly $10,000.00 in revenue in 2011 and 2012.
Evan Katz, Director of Finance of the Ayer-Shirley School District, states, “We have been using KLT Industries’ mixed paper recycling program for the past two years at all four of our schools and are delighted with the results. We have not only increased our recycling participation by staff, students, and parents but also earned money in the process. KLT Industries’ cost-free service has helped the Ayer-Shirley School District avoid paying thousands of dollars for cardboard and paper recycling services.” Katz continues, “It’s a win-win situation and we are grateful for all of our hardworking students that recover and collect a majority of the materials that fill KLT Industries’ receptacles.”
Sheryl Caterino, Treasurer of KLT Industries, comments, “The mixed paper recycling program offered to New England school districts is a result of KLT Industries’ commitment to encourage students to be environmentally conscientious.” Caterino concludes, “Our sales staff works closely with school facilities staff, and in some instances teachers, to identify easy-to-access locations for mixed paper receptacles to encourage higher rates of cardboard and paper recovery. We pay the school districts per ton for these materials so the more they recycle the higher their monetary gain.”
KLT Industries mixed paper recycling program is also offered to non-profit organizations, parishes, municipal buildings and transfer stations.
