FBI, CIA, and DOD Experts Share Information Security Secrets with San Diego Companies at a Two Day Conference in La Jolla
MCLEAN, Va., May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — FBI Supervisory Special Agent John Caruthers, the head of the FBI’s San Diego field office National Security Cyber Program will be one of 22 speakers at a very unique security conference called Suits and Spooks on June 15-16 at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla hotel. Other speakers include 30 year CIA veteran and counterintelligence expert Christopher Burgess, retired U.S. Navy SEALs Rob DuBois and Thomas Dzieran, former NCIS agent Jay McAllister, the CEO of CrowdStrike George Kurtz, and many other experts in cyber intelligence and information security.
Jeffrey Carr, the organizer of Suits and Spooks and the author of “Inside Cyber Warfare: Mapping the Cyber Underworld” said that he chose San Diego as a location for his conference series because of its heavy concentration of military and technology companies. “Whether San Diego CEOs know it or not, their companies represent high profile targets for certain adversary states because of their intellectual property and/or relationship with the U.S. military.” Since most corporate executives aren’t computer engineers, Carr said that Suits and Spooks focuses on providing cyber security information and threat intelligence in non-technical language that executives can easily relate to.
Some of the featured talks include “Threat intelligence for the enterprise on a shoestring budget,” “The importance of international collaboration in identifying and interdicting non-state hacker groups,” “Exploring offensive tactics in defending corporate and government networks,” and “Advanced technologies for detecting the insider threat.”
