Perkins+Will’s Los Angeles Office Promotes Three Exceptional Architects
Design Team Celebrates Colleagues Elevation to Associate Principal and Senior Associates
LOS ANGELES, May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Los Angeles office of leading global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will today announced that Leigh Christy has been promoted to Associate Principal and Avivah Rapoport and Mark Tagawa have been named Senior Associates.

Leigh Christy has been promoted to Associate Principal from Senior Associate. She is a member of the Perkins+Will Green Team, the leader of the Los Angeles office’s Social Responsibility Committee, and co-leads the firm’s Innovation Incubator micro-grant program. Using both research and project work as a basis, Leigh frequently publishes articles and presents on issues dealing with social and environmental sustainability issues at all scales. Leigh is also active in the professional community and teaches in the School of Architecture at Woodbury University. Some of her past projects include Piggyback Yard Conceptual Masterplan + Vision in Los Angeles for the Friends of the Los Angeles River, the Lincoln Heights Jail Redevelopment Study, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Rampart Station, LAPD Metropolitan Division Facility, and the Student Services Building at Modesto Junior College. Christy holds a degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of California Berkeley.

Avivah Rapoport has been elevated to Senior Associate from Associate. Her 19 years of hands-on experience focuses on complex building types with various user groups including healthcare, higher education and civic projects. Her professional work on buildings for and of the community is complimented by her active role in community services organizations. The scope of her work includes Regional Medical Center of San Jose New Addition and Renovation, The Johns Hopkins Hospital Sheikh Zayed Tower and Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center as well as the Qatar Ministry of Health Primary Healthcare Clinics.
Mark Tagawa has also been named Senior Associate from Associate. He has more than 20 years design industry experience that includes project types ranging from higher education and healthcare facilities to commercial and corporate interiors. In addition to work completed domestically in the U.S., his portfolio includes projects in Asia and the Middle East. Some of Tagawa’s notable projects include Livable Health City Design Competition, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University Health Sciences Campus, National Guard Health Affairs Specialized Children’s Hospital and Maui Land and Pineapple Company Corporate Offices.
